Focusing problems explained:

Blurry vision is a decline sharpness, making vision appear hazy and out of focus. Blurring may happen occasionally, or objects may be seen as blurred all the time. Blurred vision makes it especially difficult to sustain up-close work for long periods of time. Treatment for blurred vision is based on the cause or diagnosis. Your Neuro-Optometrist will explain the causes and treatment during your appointment.

You may have difficulty shifting focus between objects at near and far distances. Accommodation is the ability to adjust focus at different distances. This process is achieved by the lens inside the eye changing its shape. If you have issues with speed or ease of focus, you may have a visual problem called accommodative dysfunction. This may be age related or liked with a neurological “wiring” disruption following brain injury.

What can we do?

The treatment of accommodative or focusing problems varies depending on the cause. Your optometrist may prescribe suitable spectacles for specific tasks. Exercises may be given to you to improve focusing skills
